Paleokastritsa is located on the northwest coast of Corfu, 25 km from Corfu Town. It is one of the most famous tourist resorts of the island, mainly because of its fantastic beaches with clear sea waters and many wonderful bays. All of these are nestled under the folds of steep green slopes with olive groves, cypress trees and citrus orchards. The castle of Angelokastro is located on top of a fairly large rock and offers stunning views of the bays around Paleokastritsa. The historic monastery of Theotokos is one of the oldest in Corfu, dating back to 1225. It is built on a steep slope on the western side of the central bay, overlooking the Ionian Sea. The factory “Mavrommatis Kumquat” was founded in 1965 and is a family business, specializing in the processing and bottling of kumquat into liqueurs and sweets respectively.
In the ”Mavrommatis” factory, kumquat products such as Spoon Sweets, Mandolato, Jam, Loukoumia, Mandola, Baklava and Kumquat Extracts are produced. Also, they are producing Classic Mandolata, Lemoncello, Rose Loukoumia, Sycamoid, Almond Baklava, as well as Ouzo.
The Distillery also has an organized exhibition area for you to live a 360-degree tasting and exploration experience of local products.
Visitors have the opportunity to tour into showroom starting from the lobby, where they will be introduced to the old distillery equipment. After, you can pass to the second exhibition area where you can watch the production process of kumquat through a video projector.
